Our latest Report |
||
| We
in Edinburgh have a large group of Associates who come from a wide range
of age groups and professions, etc. We have Sixth Year pupils, University students, unemployed, housewifes, single and retired people all involved in Mercy! Our Mercy Associates bring different levels of commitment, but all of these stem from a Christian commitment to Christ and his people especially the poor, hungry, homeless and downtrodden. The ways in which our Associates are involved in the Mercy Ministries are through:

Some of our older members pray daily in the quiet of their homes. They faithfully attend the monthly Vocation Masses, participate in the Catherine McAuley Spirituality Evenings, join in th Seasonal Vigils of prayer and reconciliation for poor and powerless. They also join the Community celebrations for St. Patrick, Our Lady of Mercy, St. Andrew and Associates Annual Thanksgiving Mass and Social Evenings. Active Service on Homeless Project The younger and active team of Associates who are committed to the project, minister Mercy in a variety of services. Some are committed on a daily basis, but the majority offer one day of am/pm per week. We have about 100 ministering at this level of mercy many of whom are also committed to the prayer and fund raising services. Each Associate brings his/her own giftedness, skills and unique personality to this ministry. Some prepare the food in the kitchen, others do the cooking and baking, others again serve the food, listen, befriend, shower, counsel and help wherever possible; others do the cleaning, washing and laundry work and some answer the door and phone - all together creating a true centre of warmth, welcome acceptance and real Mercy hospitality endeavouring to see the suffering Christ in each recipient of our hospitality. As well as a good age range we have also got a fairly even, gender balance across the ages. |
